EVELYN C. PHELPS, 94, longtime Fowler resident, died at Belmont Lodge Nursing Care Center in Pueblo where she had only been for 3 weeks, on Saturday evening, March 22, 2008. She was born on December 22, 1913 on a farm near Deerfield, Missouri, one of eight children born to Walter York Eddy and Mabel Lawrence Eddy. She married Chester Owen Phelps on June 22, 1934 at the Baptist Church in Pueblo. She graduated from Fowler High School in 1931 and was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Order of Eastern Star. Mr. Phelps preceded her in death in June 1984. She is survived by one son, Michael (Betty) Phelps of Colorado Springs; two daughters, Patricia (Ray) Bouldin and Nancy (Dwight) McIntosh all of Fowler. There is one sister, Pearl Felkner of San Diego, CA and a brother-in-law Dr. Harvey (Adah) Phelps of Pueblo, CO. Also surviving are grandchildren Chet (Nancy) Phelps, Jan Phelps, Scott Phelps, Kristi (Jack) Hobby, Chad (Michele) Bouldin, Kori (Brent) Cozzolino, Tara (Scott) Cullen, Clint Denney, Brett (Charlotte) McIntosh, and Brandon McIntosh. Great-grandchildren Gavin Phelps, heather, A.J., and Brianna Hobby, Avery, and Kiley Bouldin, Zach and Kaitlyn Cozzolino, Tyler and Sydney Cullen, Ryan Denney, Cole and Morgan McIntosh, Madison McIntosh along with numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at the Fowler Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 28, 2008 with Rev. Jeanne Redshaw, pastor of the Fowler United Methodist Church officiating.
