Fowler School District welcomes six new members to its staff as the 2008-2009 school year begins.
Mark Van Sickle, a 1989 graduate of Fowler High School will be teaching junior high science and serving as an assistant high school football coach. Van Sickle and his wife Katy have one daughter, Lexie.
Joining Fowler Elementary as a special education aide is Kim Wallace. Also a Fowler native, Wallace graduated in 1995 then went on to graduate from Otero Junior College in 2003. Wallace and her husband, Jeremy have one daughter, Sennon.
Wallace says she enjoys working with children and will strive to make a positive difference in the lives of every child she comes in contact with this year.
Crystal Autry is originally from McClave and most recently has worked in Branson for the past 4 years. Autry is a 3rd grade teacher at Fowler Elementary and the assistant high school volleyball coach. She and her husband, J.J. have two children, Joe and Aspen.
Autry's goals for this year include pushing her students to their highest academic levels and to help bring home a state volleyball championship.
"I am looking forward to being a part of Fowler's success," she says.
Pat Bohlender-Lowe comes to Fowler Elementary as a Title 1 tutor. Among her responsibilities will be to administer the Colorado Department of Education program, Learning Force, targeted at students scoring unsatisfactory or partially proficient in math on CSAP exams.
"Student success is my goal for this year," she says and is looking forward to getting the students in her class up to grade level in math and reading.
Married to Jack Lowe, she has five grown children and 4 grandchildren. Lowe enjoys gardening, flowers, decorating, reading and cooking.
Joining Fowler School District as a janitor is Ruth Denney and in the maintenance department, Chuck Flanscha.
Denny graduated from a business school in Germany in 1996 and after moving to the Fowler area married Darren Denney. She says she enjoys her cats, motorcycle rides, walking, organizing and spending time with her husband.
Chuck Flanscha is married to Star, a 4th grade teacher at Fowler Elementary and the couple have four children and 8 grandchildren. Flanscha's favorite hobby is drag racing.
