Each year the Fowler High School drama students earn awards for their work in theatre over the course of their high school career. There are a variety of acting and directing awards that are given in addition to awards for a student's hours of service to the organization, whether it is building set, cleaning, memorizing songs and lines, lighting, or the myriad of other activities that are necessary to produce a show.

Each year the Fowler High School drama students earn awards for their work in theatre over the course of their high school career. Point awards are given at various levels during a student's career in FHS Drama. Students earn the following awards representing hours of service: Drama Pin (100), Drama Letter (200), First Degree Star (350), Second Degree Star (500), Key(850), and Gavel (1,250). Most students will earn a  few of these awards during their high school drama career, but few have reached the level of Gavel.

This year, following the May 6, Sunday afternoon matinee of FHS Drama Club's Spring Musical "GODSPELL", drama students will be receiving their awards.

Fowler High School Senior Dramatist Raven McCanless will be only the third student in recent Fowler history to receive the Gavel award/

Raven has been involved in Drama since the fall of his freshman year. He has held virtually every crew position during that time and has acted in some of the performances. Every single set that has been built for the past eight productions has been constructed with Raven's many hours of work. He is also, perhaps, the single biggest volunteer at the Valley Theatre in Fowler. No other community member has logged as many hours cleaning, repairing and painting as has Raven.

Although you won't see Rave on stage during "GODSPELL", know that the success of this spring musical would not be possible without his dedication and hard work.

I encourage everyone in the Fowler community and surrounding area to attend FHS Drama Club's Spring Musical "GODSPELL".

Performances are Friday, May 4 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 6 at 3 p.m..  Tickets are $5 and there are no reserved seats.

You will laugh and cry as Fowler students portray the life of Christ from his baptism by John the Baptist through The Last Supper and the Crucifixion. You will leave humming songs like "Day by Day" and "All for the Best" as you exit the theatre after the performances. Don't miss it!
