Trudy Kareus, State Executive Director for Colorado’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) announced today that Scott Brase has been selected as the County Executive Director (CED) for the Baca County FSA office, located in Springfield, Colorado.  Scott began his new duties on May 21, 2012.  As CED, Brase is responsible for FSA federal farm program delivery and related administrative operations.

Scott grew up on a family farm and cattle operation north of Lamar, Colorado.  Received a degree in Agriculture Education from Oklahoma Panhandle State University in 1993 and then returned home to run the farm and cattle operation.  Prior to becoming CED in Baca County, Scott taught High School Ag Education at Lamar High School from 2002 till 2005, he was the CSU Extension Southeast Area Agronomist from 2005 till 2009 and Insurance Agent with Brase Insurance from 2009 till 2012.  While Scott was working at CSU, he received his Master’s degree in Agricultural Science.  

Scott has been married to his wife Chelley for 22 years and they have three daughters and a son.    

“I chose to work for FSA because I enjoy working with farmers and ranchers and I want to have an active role in strengthening agriculture in Eastern Colorado” said Brase.

When Scott is not devoting his full attention to his CED duties, he enjoys family activities, wood working, and working around the family farm.
