New Business in Fowler

Fowler’s newest business, El Mission Restaurant, formerly Phatt Willy’s, opened for business on Friday, Sept. 13, and since then has been serving the community some good authentic Mexican food. The owner, Monique Flores is no stranger to the food business, her parents, Vincent and Priscilla (Masias) Flores own Mission Deli in Rocky Ford and several aunts, uncles and cousins own restaurants all over the state of Colorado, so one would be safe to say, “it’s in the blood.” When asked what inspired her to become a business owner, Flores responded, “I have been in the restaurant business for 24 years and thought it was time to try it on my own. This place came available and here I am.” Flores and her family put in a lot of hours cleaning and preparing the building for business and continue to make improvements. Selecting the name of the restaurant came easy for Flores,”My uncle Joe Masias Jr., owned El Camino in La Junta and of course my parents have Mission Deli, most of the family owned restaurants have the name Mission or Deli in them so El Mission seemed appropriate,” said Flores. While her menu is limited for now, El Mission does offer hamburgers and cheeseburgers. Flores has plans to expand her menu to offer a bigger variety of Mexican and American cuisine “My main goal is to make sure my customers are pleased with the food and we offer good customer service,” Flores said. Hours of business are currently Monday - Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from noon until 4 p.m. "We might do some adjusting on the hours, I would eventually like to be open for breakfast but for right now, this is keeping me busy,” said Flores. “I am still trying to finalize some important details like my business telephone and credit card machine, I hope to have everything in place by this weekend. I appreciate my customers and their patience, for now people can call my cell phone 469-2442 to place orders to go,” said Flores. El Mission will hold their Grand Opening on Saturday, Oct. 5
