Otero Junior College Rattler Rodeo continued their success at the Chadron State College rodeo in Chadron, Neb. last weekend, with three athletes competing in the championship round.
Leading the men’s team were freshmen J.T Prather (Acton, Calif.) and Wyatt Cox (Arroyo Grande, Calif.) with a third place finish in the team roping competition, earning them 120 points for the weekend and placing them fifth in the regional standings. Recce Roberson (La Junta) also had a top ten performance in the steer wrestling competition, finishing eighth in the average for the weekend. Currently the OJC men’s team is ranked eighth in the team standings for the region. Cody Hill (Thatcher, Utah) leads the team, ranking third in tie down roping for the region. Cox and Prather are currently in fifth place in the regional standings. OJC Rattler rodeo will be competing this weekend in Sheridan, WY for the Pat Hamilton Memorial Rodeo against 15 other schools from Wyoming, Colorado and Nebraska.
