Local people are helping raise funds for a family who lost their home and beloved animals to a recent fire. A fund has been established for Bob, Tommie and Shania Chambers of Rocky Ford. Just recently, they arrived home to find their home on fire. Their five dogs were trapped inside and perished in the fire. They have also lost nearly everything they own and did not have insurance. Tommie is the shelter manager at the La Junta Shelter in La Junta and Bob does volunteer work for the shelter helping dogs. An event organizer said, "Their five dogs were in the home and succumbed to smoke inhalation before Bob could get them out of the house. The house was a rental. Sadly, they did not have renters insurance. The Chambers lost everything. Bob and Tommie run the La Junta Animal Shelter, and are both on the La Junta Reserves. They are great loving and caring people, who have always done for others. We are holding a YouCaring fundraiser to help them start to rebuild their lives. They are currently staying with family while they try to find a new house." People are trying to raise $10,000 for the family and have currently raised $2,595.
