Here's some TV news you probably weren't expecting at all: NBC is developing a Grimm spin-off focused on a female Grimm (a mythological supernatural cop), Deadline reports.

The potential series will feature returning and new characters as they take on mysteries that build off the original show's mythology. The series comes from Melissa Glenn, who previously wrote for Iron Fist, Zoo and Beauty and the Beast, and will also be executive-produced by original Grimm EPs Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner. Grimm showrunners David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf will serve as consulting producers.

Grimm ran for six seasons from 2011 to 2017 and told the story of Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli), a Portland homicide detective who discovers he's descended from a line of Grimms, who were guardians tasked with keeping the balance between humanity and mythological creatures of the sort found in fairytales by the Brothers Grimm. It aired on Friday nights and developed a devoted enough fanbase to last for six seasons, which is enough to justify a potential spin-off, I guess. No actors are attached at this time, nor does it have a title.

Grimm is available to stream on Netflix.
