Last month on November 18, the congregation at Faith Baptist Church in Fowler welcomed a new pastor, along with his family. Stephen Anderson, wife Joy, and one-year-old daughter, Katelynn, are settling into Fowler after moving here from Ankeny, Iowa, where Anderson attended Faith Baptist Bible College and Faith Baptist Theological Seminary. His educational achievements include an undergraduate in pastoral studies with a minor in Greek Language, and a masters in historical theology. Fowler marks Anderson's first position as a pastor.
Anderson and his wife of five years, both grew up in Ohio and have known each other since the fifth grade. The couple say they like Fowler because it reminds them of the small towns where they spent their childhoods. And, Joy says she loves the view of the mountains to the west. Anderson said they are also touched by how friendly people in the area have been, both in their church and in the community.
“It is not unusual to meet someone and have them tell us they already know who we are,” laughs Anderson.
In his spare time Anderson enjoys a variety of outdoor activities including hunting, and he is an avid reader, logging as many as 52 books a year. Joy's hobbies include sewing, scrapbooking and photography.
