Friday night dances in La Junta
The La Junta Senior Center hosts Friday night dances and they are encouraging the public to attend. Sam Bachichia will be playing again this Friday at the La Junta Senior Citizen Center just off highway 50 at 102 E. 2nd street. The group recently held a New Year's dance and had 83 people attend. There is a no booze, no smoke atmosphere and everyone enjoys plenty of snacks, popcorn, coffee, tea, punch and water.
At 9 p.m. a carry-in snack break is taken. Bring your favorite to share. All ages are welcome to come and dance. The evening starts at 7:30 p.m., ending at 10:30. Sam plays a wide variety of songs and also takes requests. Elvis music is his specialty. Our regular Friday night dances are $4 per person and it all goes to the band.
The schedule for Jan. 16 will be Ernie DeHerrera from Pueblo. On Jan 23 the dance will feature the Ron Losey band, a four-piece band from our area. On Jan. 30 Butch and Malinda from Las Animas will play.

Special seminar at Library
A free public seminar to help parents, grandparents, teachers and students recognize symptoms of specific vision problems related to the brain will be presented Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 3:30 p.m. at the Fowler
Elementary School, multi-purpose room. The seminar will be presented by Dr. James Georgis of Pueblo, a nationally recognized expert on ‘neuro-optometric use of yoked prisms,” which are special glasses. Dr. Georgis is volunteering his time to help educate our community on this highly technical, but very basic symptom, information. If anyone you know struggles with reading, comprehension, attention, concentration or has been exposed to carbon monoxide poisoning, you are encouraged to attend this program. Dr. Georgis has experience training his peers as well as medical doctors . We are very fortunate to have this opportunity to learn from someone of this caliber. If you have any basic questions about this seminar, please call Pat Bohlender-Lowe –263-4081
