Fowler, Colo. -

The Fowler High School Class of 1978 held its 30th reunion in conjunction with Missouri Day the weekend of July 11th. Nearly half of the original class members returned to enjoy a nice dinner and several hours of visiting at the Walking Stick Golf Course's club house in Pueblo on Friday evening, July 11th.

The group gathered to ride on a wagon in the Missouri Day Parade and did its traditional 'second time through' appearance down Main Street. At every reunion, this class has made it a point to go through the parade a second time "just for the heck of it."

Two class mates came the furthest distance, Rick Buck of Kirkland, WA and Rodney Brown of Stratford, CT. Buck, who lives in Kirkland oversees international programs for Boeing's Integrated Defense Systems. He supervises the work of several hundred engineers who design and build anti-submarine warfare, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance aircraft. He manages developmental programs for surveillance aircraft to foreign militaries and spends much of his time traveling internationally.

Brown, who received his juris doctorate degree from Northwestern University has been a finance attorney for the past 20 years. He attended Fowler only part of his high school years but returned for the reunion as he said he has always felt the strongest connection with the students he met here.

Patrick Allen of Greeley recently collaborated with three other educators affiliated with the Public Education and Business Coalition based in Denver to author a book entitled Put Thinking to the Test, Allen is currently a teacher at Frontier Valley Elementary School in Greeley, but is also doing some extensive traveling across the country to do workshops for other educators using the principles outlined in the book.

The FHS class of 1978 has a number of classmates doing some very interesting and notable life's work. Among those who were back for the reunion were a veterinarian and dentist, several who have been involved in helping to author or produce publications, several who work in banking at various levels and numerous successful entrepreneurs who are running their own, thriving businesses or those who are working in management positions. A large percentage of the classmates are grandparents several times over.

This year's reunion was coordinated by Carol Fellhauer Reeves and Tammie Grinstead.
