The Colorado High School Coaches Association is proud to announce its Hall of Fame class for the year 2017. Among the 54th class to be inducted is former Fowlerite Greg Fruiwirth.

Greg Fruhwirth – Girl’s Basketball – Fowler High School

The son of a North Dakota Hall of Fame Basketball Coach, Greg Fruhwirth becomes a second generation Hall of Fame Basketball Coach. Fruhwirth coached the Fowler Lady Grizzlies to a 407-84 record from 1984-2005. They won three State Championships, 1989, 1993, and 1999. Coming up only one spot short the teams of 1985, 1994, 1995, and 2002 all finished as runners-up. In his 21 years as head coach in Fowler the girls’ basketball teams made 12 trips to the state tournament. When not busy coaching basketball Fruhwirth offered his talents as an assistant coach in many of the other very successful Fowler programs. He was a longtime assistant football coach when the teams won three state championships and had three state runners-up. He also assisted in boys’ basketball, baseball and track. The University of North Dakota grad has been married to Barb for 33 years and has one daughter, two sons, a son-in-law and daughter-in-law, along with two grandchildren. Greg has been an active member of the CHSCA serving as basketball president from 2000-2002, coached in the All-State Games, and received the Ceal Barry in 2008. In a statement from Greg he said, "It's a very humbling experience and makes you reflect on your years of coaching, your athletes, the assistant coaches and all the families. It's always great to be a Grizzly."
