An arrest has been made in a 2010 Otero County homicide case.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Otero County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) announced that Julian Pena-Morales, 39, was arrested March 22 in the homicide of Ronnie Griego from 2010.

Pena-Morales was arrested in Ipswich, South Dakota by the Edmunds County Sheriff's Office on suspicion of murder in the first degree of his brother-in-law Ronnie Griego on July 16, 2010.

Griego was found deceased near a rural farm property outside of the town of Swink in Otero County on July 18, 2010. Pena-Morales fled the state of Colorado on or about July 22, 2010, and remained at large until an exhaustive investigation disclosed he was working in Ipswich, South Dakota under an assumed name.

The ongoing investigation involves the OCSO, the CBI and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation.

Pena-Morales is being held on a $600,000 bond at the Edmunds County Jail and is awaiting extradition back to Colorado.
