TLC’s “Who Do You Think You Are?” series follows famous people as they trace their genealogy.
One of those journeys had ties to Fowler and La Junta.
In season 8, episode 5 of TLC’s “Who Do You Think You Are?” (available to stream online at www.tlc.com), actress Jessica Biel traces her history.
As she begins researching her maternal side, one of the names she researches is Brazier.
The person helping her research tells Jessica Biel that she was able to trace William Brazier back to Fowler. In an article from the Friday, May 7, 1937, edition of The Fowler Tribune, a headline reads, “Death Ends Years of Suffering For William Brazier.”
The article goes on to mention the family had moved to Fowler from the Missouri area, which many early Fowlerites did.
The article went on to read that the living children of Mr. Brazier included Mrs. J.C. Roberts of La Junta and Mrs. Nora E. (Ray) Hale of Fowler, among three others.
Jessica Biel then shows a family tree which shows her path to William “Bill” Brazier through her great-grandmother, Mrs. J.C. Roberts, who lived in La Junta and raised her children in La Junta, including Norma Jean Roberts. Norma Jean Roberts was very active in school activities at La Junta High School. Norma Jean and her husband were later active with the Koshares.
