The Progress Club is stepping up their efforts in preparation for the 2017 Missouri Day Art Show.
Artists and craftsmen are invited to share their creations with the public on July 16, 2017. This will be an especially exciting event this year as it will be the 50th year that the women of Fowler have hosted the Missouri Day Art Show.
Beginning in 1957 Fowler women’s organizations: the Fowler Progress Club, the Fowler Women’s Club and the Business and Professional Women’s Club with the assistance of the Fowler Public schools have provided a venue for the display of creations of art, crafts of all kinds and flowers from local gardens. While many of the clubs have disappeared from the scene, the craftsmen remain enthusiastic about their hobbies. The display has always been a major attraction of the Missouri Day celebration. We hope that everyone is planning for their individual contribution. Displays will be accepted with pleasure at the Park School for three days before the exhibit. Please keep this on your calendar.
Annually funds have been contributed by the guests to provide a scholarship for a local graduating senior who has been involved in some form of the arts in high school toward his or her future college program. Many have benefited from these scholarships.
If any of these recipients read this article the Progress Club would like to hear from you. Letters may be addressed to us in care of the Fowler Historical Society, 114 Main, Fowler, CO 81039.
