Many new events are part of this year’s Missouri Day lineup scheduled for Saturday, July 15, in Fowler.
Becca Sharp, Missouri Day organizer, said the most notable new event is the Ranch Rodeo that will take place in the old Park School lot.
The Calcutta will begin at 1 p.m. and the rodeo will begin at 2 p.m.
The event will also include a Ranch Bronco Riding and Junior Ranch Steer Riding.
The Rocky Mountain Trick Riders will also perform at 2 p.m. at Park School.
As the committee plans to continue this event, they will have a fundraiser for panels.
The panels that will be used on July 15 are on loan from Big R. The Missouri Day committee will have a “sponsor a panel” table set up in an effort to purchase enough panels to use in the years to come.
The cost to sponsor the panels is $89.
Schedule of Events
In addition to the events listed below, all day long there will be pony rides, a bounce house, slip-n-slide, water slide, dunk tank, bingo, beer garden, as well as a variety of vendors set up at Park School and in Gerard Park.
All events take place on Saturday, July 15, unless otherwise noted.
Missouri Day Livestock Show
The annual Missouri Day Livestock Show will be held at Park School on Friday, July 14. Check-in is at 5 p.m. and the show begins at 6 p.m. It is sponsored by Fowler FFA Chapter.
From 6:30 to 8:30 a.m, breakfast will be served at the Dennis Blackburn building. Donations are welcome.
50th annual Missouri Day Art Show
The Fowler Progress Club’s annual event is celebrating 50 years of showcasing artists and craftsmen from the area. Donations will be accepted and go toward the Fowler Progress Club Scholarship Fund. The art show is held at Park School during Missouri Day.
Color Fun Run
The Missouri Day Color Fun 3K run will be held the morning of July 15. All ages are welcome. Check-in at Gerard Park will be at 6:15 a.m. and gates open at 7 a.m. Participation forms are available at Town Hall. All proceeds will benefit the Leone and Devore families.
At 8 a.m. goat yoga will take place in the park.
Car, Boat and Bike Show
Registration for the Missouri Day Car, Boat and Bike Show will take place from 8 to 10 a.m. at the corner of Sixth and Florence. They will then be in the parade at 10 a.m. Registration fee is $25. All categories are welcome.
Parade registration begins at 8:30 a.m. on the corner of Fifth and Florence. There is no pre-registration or cost to participate in the parade. Candy can be thrown this year.
The actual parade begins at 10 a.m.
Nothing’s better than racing a bed down a street and trying to maintain control. This year’s Missouri Day bed race will be held at 11 a.m. at the west side of the park. The theme is Wild Wild West. It is sponsored by First Oak Bank. There will be cash prizes for winners, as well as most creative bed and best costume awards. You must supply your own bed. The always popular Baby Contest will begin at 11 a.m. at the bandstand.
Bingo begins at 11 a.m. and is sponsored by Eta Tau Sorority.
Chase a pig, race in a sack
The greased pig contest will be held at noon near the solar units. A washer pitching tournament in the beer garden begins at noon. A horseshoe pitching tournament begins at 1 p.m. The egg toss, sack race, three-legged race begin at 2 p.m.
The first ever Park School Ranch Rodeo calcutta will be held at 1 p.m. at Park School, with the rodeo to follow at 2 p.m.
The all-class reunion will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at the West Assembly of God Church (formerly known as Fowler Elementary). This is also the 100th anniversary celebration of West Elementary School. Everyone is welcome.
Rocky Mountain Trick Riders
The Rocky Mountain Trick Riders will perform at 2 p.m. at Park School.
Missouri Day Pie Contest
Sponsored by Schultz Law office, the Missouri Day Pie Contest will be held at 3 p.m. Registration will be held at 2:30 p.m. Divisions are fruit, cream and miscellaneous. A pie and ice cream social will follow the judging.

Mechanical Bull Riding
The mechanical bull riding challenge will be held at 4 p.m., followed by the mechanical bull riding team competition.
At 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 16, the Community Workshop Service will be held in Gerard Park. This is sponsored by the Fowler Ministerial Alliance.
