The Otero County Republicans hosted a community barbecue and pool party Wednesday night, with state legislators and gubernatorial candidates in attendance.

The Otero County Republicans hosted a community barbecue and pool party Wednesday night, with state legislators and gubernatorial candidates in attendance.

Over 40 people attended the event hosted at the Rocky Ford Swimming Pool.

In attendance were gubernatorial candidates, Victor Mitchell and Doug Robinson. District Attorney Jim Bullock also spoke on behalf of the George Brauchler campaign. Also in attendance was State Representative Clarice Navarro and State Representative and State Treasurer candidate Justin Everett.

Attendees had the opportunity to listen to each of the candidates, as well as ask the candidates for governor a few questions. After the candidates made their case, the audience took part in a baked goods auction, with Cord Proctor as the auctioneer and Nathan Paolucci as his assistant.

The Otero County Republican Party would like to give special thanks to George Hanzas who prepared the food for the event; Cade Salle who donated the hamburger; Jasmin Camacho-Gonzales, Jenny Whalen, Cord Proctor, Nathan Paolucci, and Aspen Johnson for helping set up and take down the event. Finally, the Otero GOP would like to thank all those who attended and said they are looking forward to another successful barbecue next year.
