Southeast Colorado Creative Partnership is sponsoring the Creative Challenge Award.

The 140th Arkansas Valley Fair will begin in just a few days — and excitement is filling the air as prospective exhibitors gather their wares to enter in the various open classes and divisions.

Those exhibiting in the Crafts, Fine Arts, and Photography Open Class will have the opportunity to vie for a cash prize being given this year by the Southeast Colorado Creative Partnership (SECCP).

The first-annual “Creative Challenge” award will be given to a participant — regardless of age — who enters an item in the Crafts, Fine Arts, or Photography Open Class, and whose entry is deemed to be the “most creative” by a panel of SECCP members who will judge the entries.

Any item in the Crafts, Fine Arts, or Photography Open Class will be eligible to be selected as the winner. There will be only one winner for the “Creative Challenge” and the winner will receive a hand-crafted award, as well as a $50 cash prize, and a one-year membership in SECCP. The winner will be announced prior to the opening of the Crafts, Fine Arts, and Photography Open Class exhibit on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 16.

The Crafts, Fine Arts, and Photography Open Class Superintendents, Loretta Kerr and Toni Cook, are excited about the new award. Superintendent Kerr said, “It is a great opportunity to showcase the creativity of members of our community.”

Plan to visit the exhibit in the Expo Building at the Arkansas Valley Fair and see who conquered the “Creative Challenge.”
