Baby Look-Alike and Crawling Contests draw crowds

The younger generation were the stars of the show on Thursday at the Arkansas Valley Fair. When moms and dads, aunts and uncles, grandmothers and grandfathers show off their youngest member of the family, it’s got to be a great time for all, and it was. At the pavilion on Thursday afternoon, entertainment started with the Kid Car Show, then came the Baby Look-Alike, and finally the Baby Crawling contest.

In the Kids Car Show, the winners were Anthony Bonds, Rocky Ford, first place; Amiyah Ruiz, Rocky Ford, second place; Devon Paiz, La Junta, third place. Bonds' chassis was a Radio Flyer Wagon, but with great modifications.

Devon got a lot of attention driving his car around by himself, especially when he ran into something. It was nip and tuck if Amiyah was going to wake up in time for the contest. After her good nap, she had a lot of personality.

In the youngest baby crawling contest, there was at first a no-go, then one baby was attracted to a camera, which inspired everyone to throw his cellphone onto the mat as a lure. Sure enough, the very smallest baby won! These may be the most confusing contests at the fair, but they are most likely right there with the horse races for attendance.
