The Arkansas Valley Fine Arts League will hold its annual show at the Koshare Kiva on Sept. 9, Early Settlers Day
The Arkansas Valley Fine Arts League has held its annual judged show at Early Settlers Day in the Koshare Kiva, 115 W. 18th St., for the past three years. Free transportation this year is provided from city park to the Kiva and back by the Senior Center bus and the generous volunteer duty of the bus driver, Virgil Lindsay, from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday. The Fine Arts League wishes to express thanks to the Senior Center for the use of the bus with a nominal fee and to Lindsay for volunteering his services.
At the Awards Ceremony on Sunday, there will be entertainment by Lex Nichols and light refreshments. The show is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The awards ceremony is at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
For entries, these are the rules:
The categories are oil painting, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, graphics, photography, altered photographs, mixed media and 3-D Arts (including jewelry, fiber arts, pottery, sculpture, miscellaneous). Any category with fewer than six entries will be eliminated and the artwork put into another category.
TERMS OF ENTRY
Original artwork completed within the last three years. All paintings must be framed or on gallery wrapped canvas and ready to hang with wire. Size limitation for wall is 48” X 48” including frame. Artist must be 18 years of age.
The organizers cannot be held responsible for any damage or theft of artwork during the show. Artists with concerns are encouraged to purchase insurance for their work.
DELIVERY OF ARTWORK
All entries must be brought to the Kiva, 115 W. 18th St. in La Junta, on Thursday, Sept. 7, between noon and 6 p.m. No mailed artwork or slides. Arrangements may be made with other artists to deliver artwork, only if the artwork is accompanied by a completed entry form and proper payment of fees.
The cost is $10 per entry, nonrefundable. A maximum of five entries per artist.
TERMS OF SALE
All artwork must be for sale with a minimum price of $50 per piece. Please do not enter pieces you are not willing to sell. There will be a 20 percent commission on all sales for nonmembers and a 15 percent commission on all sales for Fine Arts League members.
The show will be open to the public Saturday, Sept. 9, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 10, noon to 4 p.m. The awards ceremony, public reception will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. with checkout at 4 p.m.
REMOVAL OF ARTWORK
All artwork must be picked up on Sunday at 4 p.m. ABSOLUTELY NO EARLY PICKUPS. All artwork must be checked out with FAL registrar.
Arrangements may be made in writing with other artists to ensure removal of pieces. Any artwork not picked up by the removal deadline will be subject to a $5 per day storage charge.
The Fine Arts League reserves the right to refuse to exhibit any item not conforming to FAL standards.
