COLORADO CITY — The La Junta High School boys' golf team ended the regular season by winning the Rye Invitational this past Friday at Hollydot Golf Course.
The Tigers had a team score of 237, followed by Alamosa with 244, Lamar with 254 and Monte Vista with 255.
Leading the Tigers was Cody Schrock, who finished second with a three-over-par 74. He finished one stroke behind the medalist, Lance Peters of Trinidad.
Also scoring for La Junta were Jay Paolucci, who was seventh with an 80 and Noah Sedillo, who was 10th with an 83. Nathan Paolucci tied for 22nd with a 92 and Chance Oquist tied for 32nd with a 97.
Fowler finished in fifth place with 266. The Grizzlies were led by Derrick Sharp, who was eighth with an 81. Following Sharp were David Gage, who was 11th with an 84, Christian Mullarkey, who tied for 41st with a 101 and Joseph Aragon, who tied for 66th with a 123.
Rocky Ford was 10th in the team standings with 282. Cristian Valdez tied for 22nd with a 92, Ethan Jacob tied for 26th with a 93, Damon Carpenter tied for 32nd with a 97 and Levi Collins tied for 39th with a 99.
All three schools will return to Hollydot today for the Class 3A Region 1 Tournament. The top two teams will qualify for the State Tournament as well as the top 13 individuals not affiliated with those two teams.
