Otero Junior College will be hosting representatives from about 45 colleges and universities on Wednesday, Sept. 20, for the annual College Exploration and Transfer Fair. The program is an annual event that provides area high school students and Otero Junior College students with the opportunity to learn more about specific colleges and the programs of study they each have to offer. The High School College Fair will be held in OJC’s Wheeler Hall – Learning Commons from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The College Transfer Fair will immediately follow from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.
According to Almabeth Kaess, associate vice president for Enrollment Management at OJC, the event will host all of the major colleges and universities in Colorado. Also in attendance will be several technical colleges and some out-of-state colleges.
“This is an excellent opportunity for high school students and OJC students to explore their options for higher education; either as a first-time student or as a transfer student,” said Kaess. “Whether a student has a specific field of study in mind or not, they will come away from the day with a vast amount of information concerning their options for the future.”
Organized by the Colorado Council on High School/College Relations, College Fairs are held every fall at high schools and colleges throughout the state. Attendance at OJC’s College Fair is free for high school students, college students, parents, educators and anyone in the general public who would like to explore options for continuing their education.
The Colorado Council on High School/College Relations is a volunteer member organization comprised of Colorado high school counselors and college admission staff who work together to help educate and assist students in achieving their higher educational goals. Otero Junior College is a member of the Colorado Council.
