Arkansas Valley Hospice has hired two new registered nurses to their medical staff team. They would like to introduce Amber Covington, RN, and Janice Finnell, RN. When asked of each nurse why they chose hospice for their nursing field each one had specific reasons. Amber stated, “My goal in nursing was to help people and getting to do that while they are nearing the end of their life is very humbling. Hospice just makes this time a bit more peaceful.” Janis stated that “for me, it’s the quality of life. Helping people at the end of life, with the people and the things they value and love, is something I can do to honor life and living.”
Anyone who works for hospice feels it is a “calling” or a "God thing.” Either way, one definitely has to have the heart and compassion for it.
Arkansas Valley Hospice's medical director is Dr. Paul T. Yoder, MD, who has been with them for over 25 years. Dr. Hazel Abool, MD, is also on staff and has been for three years. Both MDs are very dedicated to Hospice and appreciated very much. The Hospice also has 2 LPNs and two more RNs. Lisa Lucero LPN, has been with hospice for seven years, Loni Lopez, LPN, has been with hospice for five years, Jennifer Netherton, RN and director of nursing, has been with hospice for three years and lastly, Cassie Elder, BSN, RN and hospice director for one year. "They are all very amazing people and we are very lucky to have them on our team," said Monica Armendariz, Family Support Assistant.
"We at Arkansas Valley Hospice are very committed to giving the best possible care to our patients and are working very hard to build a great relationship with our community," said Armendariz. "We will be hosting a Medicare/Medicaid Insurance seminar on Oct. 10 at our facility, 531 Lewis Ave. We will be offering two different sessions, 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. This seminar is free and open to anyone that has questions about Medicare/Medicaid or insurance in general.
