On Saturday, Sept. 30, the Grizzlies football team made the long journey over to Westcliffe to go up against the Custer County Bobcats. The game ended up being a very slippery one when it started to rain, but the game went on as originally planned, leading to another Grizzly victory.

In the first quarter of the game, the Grizzlies made two touchdowns. The first was made by Junior Zane Denton who caught a 10-yard pass and then ran the rest of the way into the end zone. Sophomore Luke Bitter made the touchdown following Denton’s, ending the first quarter with 12 points for the Grizzlies and zero for the Bobcats.

Second quarter began with Senior Brand Sharp making a touchdown when a deep pass was thrown to him. On the ensuing Custer County drive, Zane Denton intercepted the ball and returned it within 10 yards of the end zone. Quarterback Luke Bitter finished off the drive with his second rushing touchdown of the day. Junior Quinton Flanscha then followed with a successful two-point conversion, ending the first half with a score of 26-0.

In the second half, Denton made his second touchdown of the game and Flanscha again followed with the two-point conversion. Soon after, Senior Chantz Lange scored the last Fowler touchdown of the game with sophomore Thor Schiffer coming right along behind him with the extra two points, making the final score 52-0.

In the fourth quarter of the game, there were no touchdowns made by either team. This win made Fowler’s undefeated season record 5-0, and the Grizzlies are now ranked eighth. This week, the Grizzlies football team will go against Hoehne on Friday at 7 p.m. in Fowler.
