The Colorado High School Activities Association released its softball regional brackets Monday on the CHSAANow.com website.
Rocky Ford (12-7) will be the No. 7 seed, and it will host the Class 3A Region 7 Tournament Saturday at Babcock Park. The Lady Meloneers will get a first-round bye, while 10th-seeded Weld Central (15-4) and Florence (8-10), the 23rd seed, will play at 10 a.m. The winner of that game will play Rocky at 12:15 p.m.
Should Rocky win, it will automatically advance to the Class 3A State Tournament next weekend in Aurora, along with the winner of the first game. Should the Lady Meloneers lose, they would play the loser of the first game at 2:30 p.m.
La Junta (12-7) is the No. 6 seed and it will play in the Region 6 Tournament. The tournament, however, will take place in Limon where the 11th-seeded Lady Badgers (15-4) will play 22nd seed The Academy at 10 a.m. The Lady Tigers will receive a first-round bye and it will play the winner of the first game at 12:15 p.m.
The format is the same as the Region 6 Tournament.
Another Tri-Peaks League team, Lamar (14-5) will host the Region 4 Tournament. The Lady Savages are the No. 4 seed and they will receive a first-round bye.
The first game will have 13th-seeded Delta (11-8) and 20th seeded-Lyons (6-13) at 10 a.m.
St. Mary's (14-5) will play in the Region 5 Tournament at Faith Christian and the Lady Pirates are the 12th seed. They will play 21st-seeded Burlington (10-9) at 10 a.m. The winner plays No. 5 Faith Christian (13-6) at 12:15 p.m.
The remaining tournaments will have top-seed Brush (13-6) hosting the Region 1 Tournament, and it will also include 16th seed Valley (7-12) and 17th seed Cedaredge (8-11). Eaton (16-3), the second seed, will host the Region 2 Tournament, which will also have 15th-seeded Basalt (11-8) and 17th seeded Fort Lupton (11-8). Third-seeded Strasburg (15-4) will host the Region 3 Tournament, and it will include Sterling (9-9), the 14th seed and Montezuma Cortez (8-10-1), the 19th seed. Region 8 will be in Meeker. The Cowboys (16-3) are the ninth seed and they will play 24th seed Sheridan (8-10) with the winner to play eighth-seeded University (13-6).
