The Colorado High School Activities Association announced its recent fall sports polls on Monday. The rankings were posted on the CHSAANow.com website.

Football

After its 45-14 win over Manitou Springs this past Friday, La Junta remained in the fourth position in the Class 2A poll.

Two other Tri-Peaks League teams are also ranked as The Classical Academy remained at No. 5 and Salida dropped from eighth to ninth.

Kent Denver is still the top-ranked team, followed by Bayfield, Platte Valley, La Junta, The Classical Academy, Sterling, Faith Christian, Basalt, Salida and Bishop Machebeuf.

Listed at "others receiving votes" are Alamosa, Eaton, Aspen, Delta and D'Evelyn.

Crowley County remained in the eighth position in the Class 1A poll following its bye week.

Bennett is ranked first, followed by Meeker, Centauri, Strasburg, Limon, Paonia, Platte Canyon, Crowley County, Burlington and Clear Creek.

Peyton, Olathe and Monte Vista are mentioned as "others receiving votes."

Despite an overtime loss to Hoehne last Friday, Fowler remained the seventh team in eight-man football. Hoehne moved from fifth to fourth.

Holly represents the Southeast League as it dropped from second to sixth.

Sedgwick County is at the top of the rankings, followed by West Grand, Merino, Hoehne, Haxtun, Holly, Fowler, Gilpin County, Sargent and Caliche.

McClave and Springfield are on the "others receiving votes list" along with Dayspring Christian, Mancos, Norwood, Rocky Mountain Lutheran and Akron.

Two teams from the Southeast League are on the six-man poll. Cheyenne Wells dropped from third to fifth and Kit Carson dropped from sixth to seventh.

Stratton/Liberty is the new No. 1-ranked team, followed by Prairie, Otis, Peetz, Cheyenne Wells, North Park, Kit Carson, La Veta, Genoa-Hugo and Fleming.

Sierra Grande and Cotopaxi also received votes.

Volleyball

Two local teams are in the CHSAANow.com volleyball polls as Swink remained at No. 5 in Class 2A and McClave dropped from seventh to eighth in Class 1A.

Hoehne also represents the Santa Fe League in Class 2A as it is in the fourth position.

Yuma is ranked first, followed by Lyons, Dayspring Christian, Hoehne, Swink, Simla, Paonia, Wiggins, Union Colony and Denver Christian.

Fowler and John Mall are listed as "others receiving votes," as are Haxtun, Dolores, Ignacio, Meeker and Telluride.

Also representing the High Plains League in Class 1A are Kit Carson, which is ranked first, and Eads, which is ranked second. From the Arkansas Valley League, Wiley is fifth and Holly is seventh. Representing the Fisher's Peak League La Veta, which is in the third position.

Following Kit Carson are Fleming, La Veta, Otis, Wiley, Briggsdale, Holly, McClave, Flagler/Hi-Plains and Eads.

Cheyenne Wells is mentioned as "others receiving votes." along with Belleview Christian, Weldon Valley and Sangre de Cristo.

Lamar is the only Tri-Peaks League team in the Class 3A poll as the Lady Savages dropped from fourth to sixth.

Eaton is at the top of the rankings, followed by University, Resurrection Christian, Lutheran, Faith Christian, Lamar, Centauri, Coal Ridge, Bennett and Valley.

In the "others receiving votes" category are Bishop Machebeuf, Middle Park, Sterling, Bayfield, The Academy, Platte Valley, Vanguard, Weld Central, Frontier Academy and Platte Canyon.
