The Grizzlies football team recorded their first loss of the 2017 season last Friday to the Hoehne Farmers.

The Grizzlies started off hot in the first quarter and looked ready to go when freshman Braxton Bates forced a fumble which was returned to the end zone by Junior Dylan Palomino. Unfortunately, the Farmers came right back at them with a touchdown and a two-point conversion to take the lead, making the score 6-8 for the first quarter and the remainder of the first half.

In the third quarter, things started heating up as the Grizzlies scored their next two touchdowns. The first was by junior Quinton Flanscha, who also followed it with a two-point conversion. Soon after, sophomore Luke Bitter scored another touchdown, making the score at the end of the third quarter 20-8 with Grizzlies in the lead.

As they approached the end of the game, the Farmers offense started to catch fire as they started to gain on the Grizzlies by scoring 12 points to tie the game at 20. The game continued to be tied for the remainder of the game, as both teams scored one more touchdown before the final buzzer.

In overtime, the Grizzlies fought hard to keep their undefeated streak alive as they worked to score and avoid being scored on, but they did not prevail as the final touchdown of the game was scored by the Farmers in overtime, settling the score at 28-34.

The Grizzlies' next game will be this Friday at Simla at 7 p.m.
