Last week, the Fowler Grizzlies volleyball team had a long week with three tournament games on top of their usual two games during the week.

Last week, the Fowler Grizzlies volleyball team had a long week with three tournament games on top of their usual two games during the week. The tournament took place last Saturday on the Grizzlies' home turf and were played against the Rye Thunderbolts, the Limon Badgers, and the Lamar Savages. For the most part, the Grizzlies had a good day at the tournament, coming out of it with a 2-1 streak for the day and a 4-1 streak for the week.

In the game against Rye, the Grizzlies spent their first set trying to get their bearings for the day, ending with it being their only loss for that match. In the next three sets, the Grizzlies ended with scores that were all five to 10 points higher than their opponents. The Grizzlies won 3-1; set scores were 23-25, 25-14, 25-16, 25-20.

Game two of the tournament was against the Limon Badgers and was the Grizzlies' second win of the day, with an end score of 3-0. The Badgers almost caught hold of the Grizzlies in their second and third sets but the Grizzlies managed to stay strong for the remainder of the game. Set scores were 25-16, 29-27, 25-22.

The third and final game of the day against Lamar, the Grizzlies faced their first loss with a score of 0-3. Set scores include 23-25, 10-25 and 10-25. Overall, The Grizzlies had a pretty good day at the tournament and continued on into the week with a strong to turn their week right back around.

To start off their usual game week, the Grizzlies volleyball team played against the Las Animas Trojans. Their week started off their comeback, when they ended the game with a score of 3-0, winning all three sets against the Trojans. Set scores were 25-9, 25-11, and 25-20. The Grizzlies were led by junior Emily Bell with seven kills and 15 digs and senior Lexi VanSickle with 16 assists.

In their fifth and final game of the week, the Grizzlies ended it strong as they achieved their fourth win against the Crowley County Chargers. Once again, the Grizzlies defeated their opponents with a score of 3-0, not letting the Chargers come out on top for even one set. Set scores included 27-25, 25-11, and 25-21. The Grizzlies were led by senior Elizabeth Hagerman with six kills and senior Lexi VanSickle with 12 digs and 12 assists.

This week, the Fowler Grizzlies will have games against the Swallows Charter Academy on Tuesday at 5 p.m. and John Mall on Thursday at 4 p.m.
