During Bully Prevention Week, Fowler School District welcomed Joe Johnson, or “Titan,” as a guest speaker.

Johnson is a 6’5”, 270 pound former power lifting champion and football player at the University of Northern Alabama and has spoken at hundreds of schools all over the country. He is part of a team of motivational speakers that call themselves “Omegaman and Friends” and in their motivational speeches they cover topics such as bullying, peer pressure, making good choices, respecting authority, self esteem, academic excellence, and violence prevention.

They do this in a fun and interactive way that the kids will remember by helping the kids relate to the things they say. The fact that Johnson tears a textbook in a half, bends a metal bar, and snaps a wooden baseball bat all with his bare hands also helps the students remember the lessons that they are being taught. Students also got a “Stand up, Speak out Against Bullying” shirt to wear for the assembly and take home afterwards. Fowler is only one of the schools in the Valley that got to experience Titan’s encouraging words.
