The Rocky Ford High School cross country teams will compete at the Class 2A State Meet on Saturday. It will take place at the Norris Penrose Event Center in Colorado Springs.

By winning the Class 2A Region 3 Meet last Thursday, Rocky qualified both teams to state.

Running for the Lady Meloneers will be Ashlyn Alvey, Jacquelin Alvey, Emily Gauna, Kaysa Kurtz, Abigail Snyder and Jacklynn Snyder.

Meloneers running at state include Cody Danley, Gary DeLeon, Jayden DeLeon, Noel Lopez, Joaquin Munoz and Fred Rikhof.

The Class 2A girls' meet is at 10 a.m. and the Class 2A boys will run at 11:20 a.m.

Rocky also runs at junior high state meet

DENVER — The Rocky Ford junior high cross country teams ran at their state tournament Saturday at Fehringer Ranch Park.

The boys' team finished 49th out of 56 teams and there were 464 runners.

Leading the Meloneers was Caden Miller, who was 62nd in 13:27. Timothy Cardenas was 187th in 14:42, Mateo Martinez was 294th in 15:54, Aaron Culver was 309th in 18:00, Addison Brusuelas was 384th in 18:00, Trevan Romero was 385th in 18:00 and Robert Kimber was 404th in 23:09.

Emma Pachak was the only Lady Meloneer in the girls' race and she placed 50th in 17:36. The girls' open meet had 239 runners.
