The Colorado High School Activities Association announced the football playoff brackets for Class 2A, 1A and eight-man Sunday on the CHSAANow.com website.

Four local teams made the playoffs and learned their first round opponents.

Class 2A

La Junta High School enters as the No. 4 seed, and it will host 13th-seeded Pagosa Springs on Saturday. Game time is at a 1 p.m.

Also on the Tigers' side of the bracket, The Classical Academy is the fifth seed and it will host Aspen, the 12th seed on Friday. Should La Junta and TCA win their first round games, they will meet in the quarterfinals on Nov. 11.

Other games on that side of the bracket have top-seeded Platte Valley hosting 16-seeded D'Evelyn and eighth-seeded Eaton will host ninth-seeded Sterling.

On the other side of the bracket, third seed Bayfield will host 14th seed Elizabeth, sixth seed Basalt will host ninth seed Salida, seventh seed Faith Christian will host 10th seed Bishop Machebeuf and second seed Kent Denver will host 15th seed Resurrection Christian.

Class 1A

Crowley County High School enters as the seventh seed, and it will host 10th-seeded Limon on Saturday. This is a rematch of a game played earlier this season with Limon winning 27-0 in Limon.

Also on the Chargers' side of the bracket are second-seeded Meeker hosting 15th-seeded Cornerstone Christian, third-seeded Centauri will host 14th-seeded Colorado Springs Christian and sixth-seeded Clear Creek will host 11th-seeded Monte Vista.

On the other side of the bracket, top-seeded Bennett will host 16th-seeded Highland, eighth-seeded Peyton will host ninth-seeded Paonia, fourth-seeded Strasburg will host 13th-seeded Wray and fifth-seeded Burlington will host 12th-seeded Platte Canyon.

Eight-man

Fowler High School is the ninth seed, and it will play at eighth-seeded Springfield on Saturday at 1 p.m. McClave is the 16th seed and it will play at top-seeded Sedgwick County also Saturday at 1 p.m.

Should Fowler and McClave both win, they will play each other in the quarterfinals.

Other games on that side of the bracket include fourth-seeded Hoehne hosting 13th-seeded Caliche and fifth-seeded Holly hosting 12th-seeded Haxtun.

On the other side of the bracket, third-seeded Merino will host 14th-seeded Soroco, sixth-seeded Mancos will host 11th-seeded Rocky Mountain Lutheran, seventh-seeded Sargent will host 10th-seeded Gilpin County and second-seeded West Grand will host 15th-seeded Norwood.

Playoff schedule

The state quarterfinals in Class 2A, 1A and eight-man football will be on the weekend of Nov. 11. The semifinals are on the weekend of Nov. 18 and the championships are on Nov. 25.

Classes 5A, 4A and 3A will have their brackets announced next week.
