Floyd Beard of Kim recognized as Cowboy Poet of the year by Western Music Association. The Western Music Association (WMA) Annual Awards Show was held Saturday, November 11, at the Hotel Albuquerque in Old Town.

WMA Performing Member Floyd Beard was named the 2017 Male Poet of the Year and was also the winner of the 2017 Poetry Contest. “It was such an honor to receive the 2017 Male Poet of the Year award. Thank you for your support of Western Music and Poetry,” said Beard at the ceremony.

Floyd Beard is a three-time Nominee and Top 5 Finalist for Western Music Association Male Poet of the Year and is a two time winner of the award, the WMA Male Poet of the Year for 2016 and 2017. Floyd presents at Cowboy Poetry Gatherings all around the Western United States as well as for many local venues and private events. Currently Floyd and Valerie live and ranch in the canyons of southeastern Colorado near Kim, Colorado.
