The Tigers gave up three forfeits to the Huskies at 126 pounds, 132 pounds, and 145 pounds, accounting for 18 Florence points and earned just one forfeit in return at 106 pounds. Meanwhile, Florence earned wins by fall in each of their five matches wrestled. La Junta earned three wins by fall, one major decision, and one decision to mark the final score.

The dual began at 220 pounds, where La Junta’s Benny Gonzales wore down Florence’s Jerimiah Davis, earning a win by fall at the 5:12 mark to put the Tigers ahead 6-0.

Florenece returned the favor at 285 where Parker Wanner earned win by fall over Tiger Nick Martinez in 1:27 to tie the score at 6-6.

La Junta’s Benny Diego Gonzales earned a forfeit at 106 pounds to up the Tiger lead to 12-6 but Florence’s Johnny Masopost evened the score again at 113 pounds with a win by fall over Francisco Perez in 1:38.

The Tigere regained the lead at 120 pounds where Isaiah Gamez pinned Josh Baray in :54 before the Tigers gave away two forfeits at 126 pounds and 132 pounds to put Florence ahead 24-18.

At 138, La Junta’s Noah Barrett shut out Florence’s Cordale Clausen to win by major decision 12-0 and narrow the score to 24-22.

Another Tiger forfeit at 145 pounds increased Florence’s lead to 30-22.

At 152 pounds, La Junta’s Antonio Moreno lost by fall to Florence’s Ty Addington in :42, as did Tiger Jordan Garcia at 160 pounds, losing by fall to Florence’s Richie Terrian in 3:50. At 170 pounds, La Junta’s Wyatt Hoepner lost by fall to Keaton Green by fall in :36 to increase Florence’s lead to 48-22.

La Junta would take the final two matches of the dual beginning with 182 pound Wyatt Buhr, who pinned Florence’s Daniel Martinez in 1:19. Mitchell Peabody was victorious in likely the most entertaining match to cap the evening, defeating Florence’s Levi Packard 10-7. Peabody trailed the defending Tri-Peaks League champion 5-0 after the first periodand 6-4 after the second period before wearing down Packard to claim the win.

Florence won the dual 48-31.
