Snow fell the day after Christmas.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, albeit a day late.

Snow flurries began to fall in the early morning hours of Dec 26, providing a light dusting over the City of La Junta and surrounding areas.

According to, the snowy weather will not last long, however. Temperatures should warm slightly this afternoon but will dip to three degrees this evening.

Temperatures will reach 40 degrees by Wednesday and remain “mostly sunny and not as cold.” The warming trend will continue throughout the reminder of this week, with temperatures reaching 52 degrees on Thursday and 58 degrees on Friday. Saturday will be “partly sunny and cooler” with temperatures expected to reach a high of 44 degrees.

Sunday will see a high of 35 degrees, Monday a high of 33 degrees, and Tuesday a high of 42 degrees.

Next Wednesday, Jan 3, will bring the next chance of flurries as snow is “possible.” The high Jan 3 will be 42 degrees with a low of 17 degrees. The best chance of snow will likely come in the early morning hours. Cold weather will continue through the remainder of the week.
