Mobley will seek re-election as Otero County Sheriff.

Otero County Sheriff Shawn Mobley announced his intent to run for re-election in the upcoming 2018 general election.

In his letter to fellow Republicans, Mobley stated: “I would like to officially make an announcement of running for Re-Election for Otero County Sheriff and would be honored to have the support of our citizens to do so.

"In the past three years, my office has continued to move forward with the primary goal of seeking ways to provide consistently better service to the people of Otero County. I have strived to assemble and maintain a well-trained and professional staff and I credit them with the hard work, which has led to successful investigations and arrests that have been made in several high profile cases the Sheriff's Office has dealt with since I took office.

"I have also worked diligently on receiving as much training as possible to improve myself as a Sheriff and a Leader in law enforcement, including the National Sheriff’s Institute, and the only Otero Sheriff to have completed the course with the National Sheriffs Association. I continue to use the skills I learned there to better run the Office of Sheriff.

"I would like to thank all of the people of Otero County who have supported this office for the last three years. Please accept my sincere appreciation for your trust in us. We have made significant improvements, but we still have a ways to go, and with your continued help we will continue to move forward in making Otero County an ever better place for our citizens to live, work and raise their families.

"With the nation so divided in this day and age, it is important for us to stick together as a county and keep our communities safe. I would be honored to continue to serve as your elected Sheriff for another four years.”
