Florence best-selling author Don Bendell received 60% of the Republican delegate vote at the Colorado House District 47 Assembly on Friday, April 13 in Denver.

Incumbent Judy Reyer of Swink, who was appointed to fill the seat vacated by Clarice Navarro, received 40% of the vote. Needing 30% of the delegate vote to qualify for the primary ballot, Bendell and Reyer will face off in a primary election June 26. WIth the majority, Bendell earns placement on the top line of the ballot.

House District 47 represents Otero, Pueblo, and Fremont counties.

The winner will challenge democratic Pueblo public school teacher Brianna Buentello in the November general election. Buentello earned 100% support from Democratic delegates in House District 47.
