Otero Junior College's volleyball program is set to host several summer camps. To register for a camp, visit the OJC athletics web page at www.ojc.edu. Completed registration forms can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or mailed to Otero Junior College.
The All Skills Camp for grades 5-8 will take place June 25-27. The Team Camp for varsity level players will occur on July 16-17. The Setting and Hitting Camp for grades 9-12 will take place on July 18. The Defense and Serving Camp also for grades 9-12 will take place on July 18. The Advanced Skills Camp for grades 9-12 will occur on July 23-25.
"We are excited to be able to offer several different camps this summer," said OJC coach Jordan Willis. "These camps will provide players with numerous useful tools and tips. We enjoy working with the young volleyball players in our area and helping them achieve their goals. As you can see by our camp listings, we have a camp for every position and player out there."
The All Skills camp is designed to give campers a competitive experience based on skill level and costs $100. It will focus on all aspects of volleyball and ensure campers receive amble instruction. The camp is designed for all skill levels, whether the player is needing to brush up on skills or playing for the first time. The goal is to train each camper to become a better player.
The Team Camp will be a tournament style play and it will cost $200 or $250 if staying overnight with the team. Day one will feature pool play and a crossover match. On day two, teams will be reseeded. Day two will also feature pool play and a crossover match. Officials will be provided.
The Setting and Hitting Camp will focus on setting skills and drills, hitting technique and strategy, emphasize hitter/setter connection, and learn to maximize opportunities in order to score points. The cost of the Setting and Hitting Camp is $65.
The Defense and Serving Camp will emphasize defensive positions and skills, and give players the opportunity to learn various serving techniques and strategies. The cost of the camp is $65.
The Advanced Skills Camp will feature quality playing opportunities, individual positional for the upcoming season. The cost of the camp in $200.
All campers need to bring their own gear including volleyball shoes, knee pads, socks, t-shirts and water bottles.
