CASPER, Wyo. — Otero Junior College's Mason Mardesich had a no-score on his third and final ride at the College National Finals Rodeo Wednesday at the Casper Events Center.

Mardesich had a 76 1/2-point ride on his first attempt on Sunday, but he was unsuccessful on his second ride on Monday and his third, basically ending his season and career at OJC.

Mardesich is 10th in the official standings, however, 24 more riders will have their final attempts spanning today and Friday.

The top 12 in each event return for the finals on Saturday.

Kelly Valdez gets a snare in her final attempt

Former Swink High School student Kelly Valdez also had her final attempt at the CNFR in breakaway roping on Wednesday.

After coming up empty in her first go-round on Sunday and her second on Tuesday, Valdez recorded an 11.9-second run in her third attempt. She currently lies 22nd in the overall standings and 16th in the third go.

Valdez attends college at Weatherford College in Weatherford, Texas. Her season has also come to an end.
