ROCKY FORD — Fowler High School's Andrew Egan was the individual medalist and the Grizzlies finished third as a team at the Rocky Ford Invitational Saturday at the Rocky Ford Country Club.
Egan shot a 45 on the front nine, but he came back strong on the back nine with a 38 for a total score of 83.
Also golfing for the Grizzlies were Christian Marsh, who was ninth with a 94, Steven Hildreth, who tied for 22nd with a 109, and Aaron Hildreth, who tied for 37th with a 128.
Harvey Osburn played as an extra for Fowler and he tied for 25th with a 111.
The Grizzlies had a team score of 286, finishing behind Rye with 268 and Swallows Charter Academy with 282.
Rocky Ford was fourth in the team standings with 297. Levi Collins led the Meloneers as he tied for sixth with a 92. Josh Johnson was 11th with a 96, Martin Fernandez tied for 22nd with a 109 and Jacob Effird tied for 37th with a 128.
Two more Meloneers competed as extras. Demetrius Tenorio tied for 29th with a 121 and Israel Maestas tied for 31st with a 122.
La Junta entered a junior varsity team in the competition and the Tigers tied for fifth with Burlington with 314.
Jacob Martinez led the Tigers as he was third with an 87. Martinez tied with Swallows' Keaton Murphy, however, Murphy was awarded second on a scorecard playoff.
Other La Junta golfers were Donovan Roman, who was 16th with a 104, Cooper Jones, who tied for 34th with a 124, and Jacob Reeder, who tied for 39th with a 130.
Both Fowler and Rocky Ford will next compete at the Swallows Invitational on Tuesday.
