COLORADO SPRINGS — The eighth-ranked Rocky Ford High School softball team lost to ninth-ranked St. Mary's 4-3 in 10 innings Thursday at Leon Young Park.

The Lady Meloneers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The Lady Pirates scored one run in the third and one more in the fifth to tie the score at 2-2.

Rocky regained the lead with a run in the top of the seventh. But St. Mary's tied the score in the bottom of the seventh and sent the game into extra innings.

The Lady Pirates scored the winning run in the bottom of the 10th.

Lady Tigers win by forfeit

La Junta High School's game with Dolores Huerta scheduled for Thursday in Pueblo was canceled as the Lady Scorpions did not have enough players.

The Lady Tigers picked up the win by forfeit.

Teams play Saturday in Rocky

La Junta (7-13, 3-2 Tri-Peaks League) will travel to Rocky Ford (12-6, 5-1) on Saturday. First pitch at Babcock Park is at 10 a.m.

This will be a nonleague game.
