FOWLER — The Fowler High School football team will have a tough task ahead of it as it will play Caliche on the road in the first round of the eight-man playoffs. Game time in Iliff is Saturday at 1 p.m.

About Fowler

The Grizzlies are the 11th seed and they have an overall record of seven wins and two losses. They were also third in the Arkansas Valley League with a 4-2 record.

Fowler's only losses were to Holly 29-28 and Hoehne 44-0.

On offense, Fowler averages 287.3 rushing yards and 97.4 passing yards per game.

Quinton Flanscha is the Grizzlies leading rusher with 736 yards on 110 carries and he has scored 11 touchdowns. Jackson Bates is next with 544 yards and 82 carries and he has scored 10 touchdowns.

Luke Bitter leads the passing game as he has completed 33 of 66 passes for 493 yards and six touchdowns. Hunter Mason has 11 receptions for 235 and two touchdowns, Zane Denton has 11 receptions for 22 yards and three touchdowns and Flanscha has 11 receptions for 171 yards and one
touchdown.

About Caliche

The Buffaloes are the sixth seed and they have also have a 7-2 overall record. They were second in the Plains League with a 5-1 record.

Caliche also favors the run as it averages 311.3 yards per game. It also averages 46.2 yards in the air.

Leading the ground game is Adam Zink, who has 1,636 yards on 161 carries and 19 touchdowns. Dylan Huss has 603 yards on 59 carries and eight touchdowns.

The leading passer is Huss with 185 yards on nine completions of 21 attempts and he has two touchdowns. Ezekiel Johnson has completed 11 of 18 passes for 155 yards and he has one touchdown.

Correy Derr is the leading receiver with 10 catches for 188 yards and three touchdowns.

Last week

Fowler defeated Las Animas 44-0 on the road. Caliche defeated Haxtun 55-22 at home.

Next week

The winner of this game will play the winner of the game between Sedgwick County and Simla. Should Fowler win, it would be the home team regardless of the opponent.
