Ruth Denney, janitor for Fowler School District, was featured as the elementary celebrity reader last week. Originally from Germany, Denney read third grade students a Brothers Grimm fairytale. She told her audience that growing up in Germany, Brothers Grimm (German authors) brought back fond memories for her. Following the story Denney answered questions about her homeland and translated various words into German for curious students. “I came to the U.S. for a two week vacation, and 22 years later I am still here,” she laughed. “How can you not like this beautiful country. This is my home and I'm not planning on going anywhere,” Denney told the kids when asked if she ever wanted to go back to Germany.
