One scary Halloween night in the small town of Fowler, Colorado, I was walking all by myself when the sky was as black as my mom’s burnt cookies and my only light was the full moon’s glare.
That night everyone was talking about the West Park School and how it was the scariest place to be on a night like this. After hearing that, you can’t blame a 9 year old girl for being curious. So I did what every person would do, and I got my partner in crime (a.k.a. my best friend Jessica). And we made a plan to take a trip inside the creepy, mind twisting, bone shaking, eye twitching, untouched haunted school of spooks.
Later that night as the clock gave a treacherous sound, almost the sound of a person crying for help, I met Jessica at the school and we walked up the steps. I have to say I was shaking out of my fairy princess costume. I’m pretty sure Jessica felt the same way, but now was not the time to be scared. Now was the time to pep up and show everyone (including my brother) that girls are not frightened when it comes to scary things. So I grabbed Jessica’s hand and we started our spine twisting journey down the first hallway. When you looked around, it looked like a regular hallway, except for the coffin in the far corner with an overly stressed sixth grade teacher in it. It was awful! Her hair was tight and stiff, almost standing straight up. It was unusual, because we should be use to it, but this was scary at the moment.
Further on down the long, lifeless hallway, it got darker and the mood felt like there was something lurking around every corner. Suddenly I felt that Jessica was no longer pinching my hand with fear. She was not there at all! I tried to look for her but the fog and the green smoke was too thick. I looked for a door, but each one I opened was filled with lizards, bats, and a mummy. A MUMMY! After seeing that I forgot all about my lost friend and I ran as far as I could, not looking at the ghosts or spiders.
Finally I find the exit. I’m free, but one problem, where’s Jessica? I looked to the left. She was nowhere in sight. As I look to the right, there she is standing in line to go through the haunted house again!
