Friday, June 27, Crowley County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance at a residence two miles north of Fowler on Highway 167.
Loren Howell, age 27, was reported for making verbal threats then pulling a shotgun. According to witness reports an altercation between Howell and another party took place and the weapon was accidentally discharged. Howell then allegedly returned to his home with the gun.
Crowley County Under Sheriff, Steve Becker and Deputy Matt Racine responded along with backup from Officer Laura Lindholm, Fowler Police Department. Howell was taken into custody without incident and the gun was recovered.
Howell remains in custody and has been charged with felony menacing, possession of a dangerous weapon, prohibited use of a firearm and 2 counts of reckless endangerment.
