Olney Springs girl killed in accident

A 16-year-old Olney Springs girl was killed in a single-vehicle accident Sunday and three others were injured near Boone.

According to Colorado State Patrol, the 16-year-old girl, identified as Donna San Juan, was driving a 2000 Oldsmobile Silhouette on Highway 96 near Boone eastbound. She went off the right side of the road, slid on top of the guard rail and collided with milepost 76. The Oldsmobile continued eastbound off the right side of the road and collided with a bridge abutment. The Oldsmobile began to rotate counter-clockwise and came to rest submerged in an irrigation ditch facing west.

After being extradited by members of the Boone Fire Department, the driver was airlifted to Saint Mary Corwin Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Another 16-year-old female from Olney Springs, seated in the front passenger seat, was transported by ambulance to Saint Mary Corwin Hospital with minor injuries.

Donna San Juan, 49 years old of Olney Springs, was seated in the right middle seat and was transported to Saint Mary Corwin with serious injuries.  After being extradited by members of the Boone Fire Department, a 3-year-old-male, from Olney Springs, who was restrained in a child restraint system, in the left middle seat and was airlifted to Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs with serious injuries.  The crash is still under investigation. 

Speed and alcohol are not contributing factors in the crash.  Next of kin have been notified.
