Local gospel group, “CrossWalk”, has received the 2010 International Vocal Group of the Year, from the Country Gospel Music Association (CGMA) in Branson, MO on October 24, 2010. “CrossWalk” has been awarded 20 awards over the past four years by the CGMA where musicians from the U.S., Australia, Mexico, Canada, South Africa and the Philippine Islands share their talents.  Included among the numerous awards they have received are “International Whistlers of the Year” for three years in a row and have been awarded the Platinum Award in this category.  This past June, they were awarded the Vocal Group of the year in the Western Division for the third time.  The CGMA has approximately 6000 artists worldwide.
“CrossWalk” is a family vocal group including sisters Penny Grasmick, Melody Espey, and Deede Lowry along with Deede’s husband, Tanky Lowry.  “Although we were not expecting this award, we feel that God smiled down on us this year. We had such a great time in Branson.  Being with our CGMA friends was a blessing in itself, but to be awarded the Vocal Group of the Year by our peers was a blessing upon blessing and we are deeply honored,” Lowry said of receiving the award.
Born out of the tragic loss of a daughter, this close knit family is committed to continue their ministry of hope and gratitude through the music of “CrossWalk” for many years to come. Lowry added, “We never imagined that the path would be filled with so many depressing lows and such exuberant highs.  But through it all, the Lord has made ‘good’.
This past year “CrossWalk” did over 80 performances. Although they have opened for “The Isaacs” and this past June were honored to lead in the renowned “Blackwood Brothers Quartet” who were celebrating 75 years of southern gospel music, CrossWalk continues to minister to many churches and organizations across mid western states, including Kansas, New Mexico, Nebraska, Missouri as well as many churches across their home state of Colorado!

CrossWalk may be reached at (719) 251-1730 or crosswalk@ghvalley.net  for inquiries about their ministry.
