Robert "Bob" Baserman, a highly respected Otero County Commissioner, died Monday at the age of 79. He was recognized for his leadership in human services issues across the state.

To honor the late Bob Bauserman, who served 32 years as Otero County Commissioner, the Otero County Democratic Party is conducting a fundraiser to erect a stone memorial in the Otero County Courthouse. Donations can be given directly at the Colorado Bank and Trust in La Junta, First National Bank of Ordway in  Rocky Ford, First National Bank of Fowler or to the party treasurer, Gwen Herbst at 810 Colorado, La Junta, CO 81050.   


Donations will be accepted until April 1. Bauserman, of Manzanola, served as commissioner for 32 years before his death last year and was highly respected statewide.
