Cross Country teams advance to state competition

Following a successful Regional cross country meet in Fountain last Friday, Oct. 21, both the boys and girls’ Rocky Ford Meloneer teams advance to State competition.
The boys’ tied The Vanguard School for first place taking the point system out to fourth place finishers giving Vanguard the advantage. But a second place regional finish still qualifies the team for state competition next Saturday, Oct. 29 in Denver. Fowler High School sophomore, Rhett Hinkle placed fifth overall with a time of 18 minutes flat. Fowler senior, Tye Stephens came in tenth at 18:22.
The Rocky Ford Lady Meloneers also placed second qualifying them for state. Fowler sophomore, Shaylin White’s time of 23:25 earned her a 13th place finish while teammate Morgan Price came in 16th with a personal best time of 23:49.
Sate action begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 in Denver at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds.
