Fowler Police were involved in vehicle chase early Sunday morning, Oct. 25. Fowler Police Officer, Richard Kiser responded to a vehicle on Main Street squealing tires and traveling at a high rate of speed. Kiser clocked the vehicle at 48 mph in a 25 mph zone. Kiser attempted to stop the vehicle which continued south on Main Street to Park, then south on County Road 3. Police Chief Henry Borrego and Crowley County Sheriff's deputies were summoned to assist. After turning west on Road HH the vehicle stopped and driver, Grey Germillion was arrested without incident. However, a passenger, Fernando Dominguez, resisted officers. According to Borrego, rather than risk injury to officers on scene, a taser was used on Dominguez who was arrested and later charged for resisting arrest and obstruction of a police officer. Germillion was charged with felony eluding and driving under the influence.

Update:

Following an extensive investigation, Chief Borrego has identified a suspect who may be responsible for making obscene phone calls to women in the Fowler area. Beginning in June of this year and lasting through September, numerous women with a Fowler phone prefix reported a caller threatening sexual assault. Borrego's investigation eventually led to the phone records of a suspect with a history of making harassing phone calls. The suspect is believed to be in Kansas, has served time in prison for similar offenses and is currently on probation. According to Borrego a conversation with the suspect's probation officer indicates four felony warrants have been issued for his arrest in Reno County, Kansas. In addition to the calls in Fowler, similar calls were made to individuals in Emporia, Kansas; Gilcrest, Colo.; Knoxville, Tenn.; Springfield, Mo.; and Littleton, Colo. Reportedly, the suspect's mobile phone was disconnected at the end of September due to an outstanding bill. Borrego says he will be pursuing charges against the suspect. However, these types of phone calls are considered only misdemeanors in Colorado. In Kansas it is a felony.

Message from the Chief:

Chief Borrego says there has recently been a rash of DUI incidents, ten in the last month and two car chases. “Please call the police department for a ride if you have been out drinking,” states Borrego. “We are happy to give you a ride home, with in the city limits,” he adds. “And, if we are attempting to stop you, please stop!” Borrego reminds everyone, it is a felony to elude officers. “It's just not worth it,” he says.
