Marlin Turner, 72, lifetime resident of Manzanola, died Feb. 3, 2010 at University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora where he had been a patient for the past three weeks. He was born on March 29, 1937 in Manzanola, the son of John William and Fannie (Torrance) Turner. He was a graduate of Manzanola High School with the class of 1955. He and Shirley Denney were married at the home of her parents on August 22, 1955. He worked at construction jobs and was a farmer and rancher and served on various boards, including the Vroman Water Company many years.
He is survived by his three daughters, Debbie (Doug) Biernacki, Tammie (Jack) Maier, and Vicki (Ron) Harris. Grandchildren Gaylon (Jackie) Miller; Jerry (Bobbie) Miller; Carrie (Aaron) Lowrey; Samantha (Tim) Saine; Heather Harris; Jassica Harris. Great grandchildren Chris, Ryan, and Alyssa Saine; Truitt and Ephriam Lowrey and Kaitlynn Scott. Brother Lewis Turner of Las Animas.
He we preceded in death by his parents, his wife Shirley and two brothers, Dale and Donald Turner.
Memorials in his name may be made to University of Colorado, ATTN: Shandra Wilson, MD. Mail Stop C319 12631 E. 17th Ave., Aurora, CO 80045. Graveside services were held at the Mountainview Cemetery in Manzanola at 1:00 p.m. on Wed., Feb. 10 with pastor Larry Smith of Wildwest Cowboy Church officiating.
Burial will be beside his wife, Shirley, at the Manzanola Cemetery. Griffy Family Funeral Home in Fowler was in charge of arrangements.
